(I can fully accept Wabtec's performance being questioned in relation to the project but I'm finding many of these comments to be rather baseless)

Do you seriously think that dribblings on a web forum have any impact on Wabtec’s performance?!

I am aware that there have been some significant changes made to the management of the project by Wabtec to address the delivery issues. Obviously such changes will take time to have an effect. Contrary to what you both think and would like to believe, there is not some great conspiracy to deliberately under-perform on the contract.

Or are you in the "all 26 sets by December 2019" camp? As I said above, this is having a continual affect on the quality of train travel in Scotland and that should never be brushed under the carpet.

What's your take on the huge delays?

Not at all - I'm just struggling to see the value added to the discussion by such throwaway comments from people who - to the best of my knowledge and who are welcome to prove me wrong and bring interesting experience to to table - are merely speculating with no actual knowledge or experience of such a project.

As for my take on the project - it sounds like there has been a serious underestimation of the work required but from this present situation I'm not sure what kicking a dog that's already down will achieve...

The time to analyse the delays is after we have the sets - we can all moan about the delays just now, but it doesn't achieve anything... Yes, it IS frustrating, but lets just concentrate on getting the proper fleet into service 1st, rather than undermining it!

I just want to see the full refurbished fleet in service & right now, I don't care whose (if anyone's) fault it is - we can talk about that later.

I don't think anyone is arguing with you that it isn't a farce, nor that the "all-26-refurbs-by-Dec-2019" has any real likelihood of happening, nor that the problems aren't having an effect on day-to-day services and passenger experiences, nor that all this should be brushed under the carpet.

The thread is about the intro of the HSTs, "classics" and refurbs. Where they are, how many there are, what they are doing, and how they are performing. There have been a few bad failures but, on the whole, the HSTs that have run seem to have been mostly successful as trains.

I believe there was a main air problem when they coupled them up,also the train made Dundee by the skin of of its teeth after losing power again and having to coast in.
The failure is still sitting in Dundee Yard.

Wouldn't make sense Inverness already has 1 training sety stepmum passed 2 drivers out last night on it

I wonder - but we were definetly told that it was set HA24 (which is the 3rd refurbished set) that was heading for Inverness

The training train set is interchangeable with the 'classic' sets in service (I think the training set was swapped a couple of nights ago in Inverness), so I wouldn't be suprised if HA24 IS used as the training set in Inverness. It doesn't make much difference from a Driver's perspective (as far as the train handling side of things go) & it will give Drivers a chance to learn how the doors/traction interlock system works in practise & it will be necessary for the Guards to be fully conversant with the refurbished sets (and the hospitality staff too).

Not sure at all - only reason I can think of is lack of space at Inverness. Perhaps the training train set will head off as a passenger service Tomorrow? HA24 should be on the move just now, booked into Dundee at 16.30ish (according to the Realtime trains link on Yammer).

Dundee Today & Inverness Tomorrow. I'l have to go have a good look around when it reaches Inverness, as I haven't been inside a refurbished set yet.
