Just had this forwarded to me:

Book by this Saturday, 20 October, and SAVE
50% off your rail tickets when you book online

Today, First ScotRail is celebrating the third anniversary of the franchise, which began on 17 October 2004.
Given the importance of such an event, this seemed an opportune moment to let you, as an existing First ScotRail customer, know how we are doing AND to offer you a little something back to thank you for your previous custom.
So, how are we performing....? Here are some headlines to reflect our achievements to date......

The last 12 months have been highly successful for First ScotRail and we continue to go from strength to strength. Passenger numbers have increased by 5% compared to last year, and by 15% since the start of the franchise.
Our Public Performance Measure, a combination of punctuality and reliability, was a record best single period high for the franchise between July and August with a figure of 93.2% and was also the best in eight years.
Delays caused by First ScotRail have fallen by some 32% in the last two and a half years, this is compared to our franchise commitment of 2% per year.
Finally, Scotland's railways are safer than ever with overall crime down by 6%, particularly impressive when you consider the increase passenger numbers, now sitting at 78 million journeys per year.
Even with these achievements we are not complacent....further improvements in customer service, punctuality and reliability remain our core objectives for the year ahead.
So, here's to the next 12 months......

Your discount will be shown in step 6 of the booking process
I tried a few different journeys, like Glasgow QS - Edinburgh Wav, Glasgow QS - Perth, Glasgow QS - Aberdeen, and Edinburgh - Inverness
Apart from the website continually crashing, I couldn't see any discount had been applied, and at step 6 the discount was £0.00
I found that the website was crashing as one of their URLs after ticket confirmation is incorrect!

I can get the discounts up here - in fact I've already booked a shed load of tickets. ;)

I have found that the discount has been applied, how many tickets did you try to book in one go? Remember there is a maximum of 4 per transaction. I do however have a problem in that when I try to pay, they say they are unable to process my request, or words to that effect.

'We are unable to process your request at this time'

It's meant to be Advance members only isn't it? they keep getting arsey about people sharing the link, and this is the first one for a while. they keep introducing sneaky security measures.

The link was sent to registered members of the Daily Mail website
Quite difficult to consider the link as matched up, unless it has already been used!

We are currently experiencing some difficulties with the web booking system and this promotion is not currently available. We are working to resolve the difficulties, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

That would explain it. :)

I had the email sent to me, and did so because I opted in when registering on their website.

Any news on the site being fixed?
If thetrainline's engineers are on the case, it'll be about 10 years given the length of time it took for them to tick the "apply railcard discounts" box for Pbo/Gra > Yrk CDRs (we complained around Nov 06 and it was fixed this summer).

Great promotion...
Runs for a limited period and just so happens the website won't accept bookings
As a result passengers can't take advantage of the reduced / promotional fares and so will have to pay FULL PRICE!

All because the final page has one too many / in the URL!
Method 2 is to phone the call centre, in Fort William
Ironically, tonights Fort William - Euston sleeper is shown as cancelled, and is now running ECS to Edinburgh!

It isn't just because of that, from what I can see you can't even get onto the booking page at the moment!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
UPDATE: The offer is back under promotion code 'FSR50'. Enjoy! :)
