ScotRail Flexi Passes.

What would be the forum's view on the upgrade to first class of standard flexi passes on board the train? Does it matter that the flexi held is a paper 50 journeys in one year, or the RSP standard stock 10 journeys in one month?

What is the correct excess to charge, if any, and does it change if you hold a 10 or 50 journey pass?

Theoretically it should be the difference between the relevant Flexipass fares. In practice, I suspect it'd be the difference between the "normal" Single fares.

Taking Edinburgh - Glasgow as an example:

• A 50 journey Flexipass is £550.50 (£11.01 per journey) and First Class is £852.50 (£17.05 per journey), making a theoretical excess of £6.04.
• A 10 journey Flexipass is £109.30 (£10.93 per journey) and First Class is £163.00 (£16.30 per journey), making a theoretical excess of £5.37.
• The Standard Anytime Day Single is £13.20 and the First Class Anytime Day Single is £20.10, making the likely excess £6.90.
• If you were travelling at the weekend, then a Weekend First upgrade (where available) should apply, which is £3.20 for Edinburgh-Glasgow.

Just received the following from ScotRail's customer relations:-

Upgrades to First Class are available; passengers should be charged the difference between Flexipass fare and First Class Single. Weekend First supplements are not valid in conjunction with Flexipass tickets

I stand corrected! Though that's a bit mean in the case of Weekend First.
