Scotrail Drivers Assessment

Got assessment for a drivers job in a few weeks time just wondering what my odds are of landing the job. How many candidates start at 1 of these things before the cuts are made after each test? Sounds like it will be a brutal process but understand the necessity to whittle down numbers.

Anyone with experience of a Scotrail assessment offer any opinion?
Does anyone know if its just 1 vacancy?
Anyone else got an assessment for this job?
Do they do the Structured Interview on same day as tests, letter was a bit unclear but says assessment will take up to 3 hours so no time for SI?
Just trying to figure out what I'm up against, practising like mad on the tests atm so going to give it my best shot and hope for the best

Hi Beardfoot. I can't help much with the Scotrail related questions, not working for them but I shouldn't worry too much about what percentage pass the psycometric assessments - you have to pass them anyway to be in with a shot of the job so concentrate on getting through them first and then go from there!

When I did the tests with another Firstgroup TOC they were spread over two days, but I don't expect that FSR will necessarily be the same. There're a few Scotrail people on here - hopefully one will be along to help shortly!

When I did mine there were about 20 people in the room with me but I believe there were other sessions too so who knows.
You don't get the structered interview on this day, you need to pass the assesement, traincrew managers interview and possibly the reactions test and then you go to SI. You have 3 or 4 different days to attend if you are successful. Good luck its a great job.

Have you sat your assessment yet Beardfoot ? If so , how did it go ? Do you know how many were being assessed?

Aye Donaghie sat assessment last week. I believe there are at least 2 groups of maybe 15 each.
It was fine although mechanical was very hard for me the rest of tests were what I expected and had practised for and the reward is a shiny new travel pass to the managers interview !

Well done Bearfoot , good luck with the managers interview. Not got as far as you , shortlisted but, now on hold pending assesment dates, dont think that will happen though !!

Had mine today I also found the mechanical test very difficult as did the rest of the group. I spent hours and hours preparing for this test.

Hi Guys, had my assessment 11'th March. I passed but have heard nothing since, phoned them 2 days ago and was told to keep checking website and Email for further info.

Sounds like I've been put on hold and won't hear any more. Anyone have any more info on these jobs?

I know of someone who just heard back 5 months later. The HR recruitment team is 2 people short currently so its all very slow. Don't worry.

Cheers Scotraildriver, Recruitment team don't fill me with confidence to be honest. 2 days after closing date for jobs I got a 'thanks but no thanks' Email then 3 days later I got a travel pass to go for the asessment.

Phoned them the following day and didn't get a straight answer for a further 2 days!!

Generally there are between 10 and 30 candidates put through to the tests from sifting per vacancy, this is only an average figure and sometimes it can be less or even more but this figure gives you a rough idea.
