Hi, I was watching one of Don Coffey's brilliant videos on YouTube earlier (Manchester Airport to York), and at the point they reached Huddersfield station (53:21), there was a Scotrail DMU (class 170 I think) sitting at one of the platforms. Does anyone have any idea why that might be? Cheers.

Just to add to that, Northern Rail has received a number of ex ScotRail units over recent years, including the "Haymarket 8" Class 158s (all in the current blue Saltire livery) and a small handful of 156s in the former First ScotRail "Barbie" livery. However, as mentioned above, it will bee one of the former ScotRail 170s you would have seen.

TPE used the northern (ex Scotrail) 170s on the Leeds to Huddersfield stopper, used a northern driver and a TPE guard, think it only happened for 6 months maybe whilst TPE got their new trains

That is correct. From the December 2018 timetable change Northern loaned an ex ScotRail Class 170 to work one of the two diagrams on the Leeds to Huddersfield stopper due to a shortage of available 185's at the time. This arrangement was in place until the May 2019 timetable change where a 185 was released to work this diagram

It was indeed a Northern Driver and TPE Conductor (Manchester Piccadilly crew only).
