Scotrail diagrams

Hi everyone. This is probably a bit of a basic question but I've rarely been bothered by what traction is operating my services or have just known already. But I'm in Scotland in a few weeks and will be travelling between Glasgow and Inverurie. I'd very much like to travel on one of their shortened Intercity sets, and am wondering how I find out whether the 14.39 from Glasgow Queen Street is likely to be formed of one of these? I believe it carries on to Inverness. Its for some reason a good deal more expensive than trains before and after so want to make sure its worth the £!

It's formed of a 170 today. Looking at Realtime Trains for tomorrow, it's diagrammed as a DMU, so no, not an HST.

Realtimetrains shows the 1439 ex-Queen St is a DMU (prob 170) for every day I've looked - the 1239 and 1639 are both listed as "Pathed as Diesel locomotive, trailing load 324 tonnes
Planned for 100mph max" which is what the IC7 HST's show as. On those though, you'd have to change at Aberdeen for Inverurie.

Excellent thanks, I will then avoid that one! I guess the short train is also the reason why Advance tickets are sold out!

This is the only Queen Street - Aberdeen service that is diagrammed for a 170. All the others, albeit 2-hourly at the moment, are diagrammed for HSTs.

Thanks. Yeah that 2-hourly frequency is a right pain. Having to change at both Haymarket and Aberdeen because of it!
