Checked my post when I got in yesterday and it had arrived!

Obviously they post them out in batches.

Access to the first class lounge and the very nice showers at Euston.

I don't see that written down anywhere....is there any proof of this entitlement? I haven't heard of it.

Mine arrived today, it says on the website (scotrail.co.uk/advance) if you log in that you're entitled to use all Scotrail lounges....I may go in to use EDB's one today!

Actually - I have just found the reference here:

http://www.scotrail.co.uk/content/station-facilities

London Euston

First Class Caledonian Sleeper customers and Advance Loyalty Club members can enjoy complimentary light snacks and refreshments in the newly refurbished Virgin Trains First Class lounge on the first floor, accessible from the main concourse. Dedicated Caledonian Sleeper Standard Single ticket holders can also be given access to the lounge Standard Class customers can use the Passenger lounge, which is on the main concourse opposite the left luggage office. Both lounges are open daily.

There's a little asterisk there which is never explained.

I remember reading somewhere that you need any ticket valid on ScotRail in order to use the lounge, you can't just turn up with the card and walk in.

Found it - on the NRE station details website.

Advance Loyalty Club members can also use all ScotRail First Class Lounges on presentation of their membership card as well as ANY type of ticket valid for travel on ScotRail services that day. Tickets not valid on ScotRail services cannot be accepted

Lucky I had my single ticket home then! Pretzels went down a treat!

So what exactly are the Euston requirements? A sleeper ticket and the Advance card? Or could one get away with any random ScotRail ticket for that day (like the ScotRail lounges)?

I'm guessing with it being a Virgin lounge they'd be quite strict :(

You do need a sleeper ticket as well as the Advance card, I'm afraid!

As an Advance member you can look forward to receiving regular postal and email newsletters containing news and information about ScotRail together with exclusive benefits ranging from discounted leisure rail travel to exciting partnership offers and competitions.

Enjoy Weekend First FREE which gives you weekend upgrades to First Class (subject to availability) when you travel on the following tickets:

  • Anytime, Off-Peak Day Return, Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak

I'm assuming this free upgrade does not extend to Sleeper berths..?

I've just rec'd my Scotrail Loyalty card today and I'm looking forward to taking advantage of it later on this month.

Amongst its myriad 'freebies' it doesn't mention if the showers at Fort Willam are chargeable or free - I'm travelling Standard Class, does the Loyalty card get me a freebie shower ?

Sadly not, it's still £3.50. Are you travelling by Sleeper? Only First Class cabin customers get free use of the showers, not standard, despite the fact you are about to embark on a 12-hour journey. The Advance card works at Euston though so you could have one on arrival.

The plan is that I'm taking my daughter for a treat on her 5th birthday.
After school finishes on Friday we're going from Grange to Euston, maybe having a pub meal in Euston, definitely visiting the Virgin First Class lounge (because we can :D) then taking the Highland Cally to Fort William, a couple of hours in Fort William and then home to Grange. Having a freebie shower at FTW was going to be for the novelty.
Should be great stuff
