NUMBERS using the new Alloa to Stirling railway line are fast approaching the half million mark.
A survey by SEStran, a partnership of eight local councils including Clackmannanshire and Stirling working together on transport issues, shows that during the first 12 weeks of operation the line has played host to close to 400,000 passengers.
Opened in May, this far exceeds the 155,000 predicted to have used the line over the period.
Councillor Eddie Carrick, Sustainability Portfolio Holder, said: At Clackmannanshire Council, were delighted to hear that the railway has been such a tremendous success.
We knew there was a lot of demand locally and that has been proven by these figures.
