In a little over 4 hours my son and I are leaving to attend the Model Rail exhibition in Glasgow. It would of course be sensible to go direct to Glasgow but where's the fun in that? So, it's the Sleeper to Fort William, a short hop to Mallaig before taking the ferry to Skye and a cab to Kyle. Then it's over to Inverness before a dash (a very long dash!!) to Wick and back. Finally we make our way to Glasgow (via Edinburgh of course!!) to attend the exhibition. A comfortable night in Glasgow awaits before heading back to King's Cross and then home to Stevenage on Saturday.

I hope to do a full trip report which I'll update here upon our return. I've even set up a Flickr account to share the pics.

See you all soon,

Lee

your gunna have a ball, We have even layed on good weather for you!
Tell me how much the taxi on Sky comes too as I am working that itinerary at easter and atempting to juggle the pleasures of breakfast with mates in Sky with the bus times. Needless to say it aint going too well!
If going to wick streight after doing the Kyle line change at Dingwall, saves covering same ground too much!
If I can help let me know.

Thanks for the advice/help blindtraveler.

I just called the hotel in Kyle and offered to pay one of their staff to meet us but was advised to catch the bus. There is a 601 service that leaves 5 minutes after the ferry arrives (and waits if it's late) and goes directly to Kyle.

Here is the link to the timetable.

And yes, let's hope the weather stays as predicted.

Must go, the 19.07 from Stevenage awaits.
