Scot Rail HST in West Country

P8100874.JPG I was at Exeter St Davids yesterday at 19.00hrs, these 2 power cars in Scot Rail livery came into platform 4 and headed in direction of Plymouth.

Puzzled I ask would the knowledgeable people out there why it would be going in this direction?

Another thing that got me wondering, when moving across the country would they be permitted / is it safe to go at 125mph when authorised on the line in this mode ?
