A 13-year-old schoolboy who went missing after a teacher and pupil were attacked at a Worcestershire school has been arrested on suspicion of wounding.

West Mercia Police said the boy was found on a train heading to Hereford at about 16:55 BST.

He was also arrested on suspicion of carrying a bladed weapon after the attack at Chase Technology College, Malvern, at about 08:45 BST.

A male teacher and 13-year-old girl suffered minor injuries, police said.

The boy remains in custody at Worcester Police Station, they added.

Wonder how the logistics of this were worked out. Delicate handling needed I'd think.

It doesn't specifically say he was arrested on the train, could have been on arrival at Hereford or elsewhere.

I would assume a radio/electronic message about a missing person might have been sent out to transport operators. A 13 year old boy on their own, given a description, would be easily spotted by a guard or station staff.

Im shocked at this incident having been a former pupil of the school. Left in 2006 though, it was believed the boy was arrested at Ledbury Station

We do get "missing person" pager messages - very occasionally they have "Do not approach but call BTP" on the end of them...

A 13-year-old schoolboy who disappeared after a fellow pupil and a teacher were attacked with a knife has been arrested, West Mercia Police said.

The boy was found "safe" this afternoon and arrested on suspicion of wounding and carrying a bladed weapon.

Police said he was found on a train from Hereford to Malvern at 16:55 BST.

Detectives launched a search for the boy after the attack at Chase Technology College in Malvern, Worcestershire, at about 08:45 BST.

A male teacher and 13-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

The boy was apprehended at Ledbury station in Herefordshire.

Leah Johnson, 16, a former pupil of Chase College, was travelling on the train when it stopped at Ledbury.

She said an officer was waiting on the platform for the boy, who had been standing near the train doors for around 15 minutes.

"The policeman was pacing up and down. The doors opened and he just said 'can you come with me?' and he walked off with him," she said.

The boy remains in custody at Worcester Police Station.

Earlier, there were police officers stationed at each entrance to the school and crime scene tape blocking off the main entrance.

Children were brought out individually from the school and handed to parents waiting at the gates. About 100 had gathered by lunchtime.

Seems like an eminently sensible way of dealing with the situation, The police and other authorities will have had plenty of time to find out about the boy and the best way to make an arrest without further injuries or unnecessary histrionics.

Safest way is to tazer him, job done.

Oops silly me that would infringe his yoomun roites wouldnt it, but its okay for him to go round injuring people with a knife, that doesnt infringe their human rights at all does it!

Always assuming that the polis get the right person...
I seem to recall some infamous misidentifications.

Very good point.
In this case I would say that misidentification would have been unlikely, there couldnt have been very many 13 year old kids (in school uniform?) riding around at that time of day.

I would much rather the Police tazer the wrong person than them pussyfoot around the right person who then injures an innocent bystander while the Police are mucking about.

Thats all well and good and I agree with the sentiments, but I'd still rather tasers were used with intelligence as a last resort on the right person. Tasers might be "less lethal" but they can still be lethal, particularly with high risk groups such as children, people with certain medical conditions and the elderly.

As with everything there needs to be a balance and where that balance is going to be is the problem.

This is one of those things that most people agree on simply because nobody wants to see an innocent person injured, but as to exactly when it should be deployed is the issue.

In this case if it was thought he still had the knife on him and depending of the circumstances surrounding the assaults then it might have been safer for everyone to incapacitate him quickly.

Note the highlighted bits! ;)

It does sound like they didn't need to tho', and that's better for everyone.

But that would be untrue, not that it would make much difference. I still say that some of the delay allocations should start with 'once upon a time'!

Indeed but me being me would still like to see a miscreant given some of his own medicine, an eye for an eye and all that! ;)

Please dont turn this into a 'but we cant do that now', 'we are above all that' type thread, I know it cant be done but I wouldnt mind if it was done occasionally!

Taser isn't non-lethal force, though - there are over 500 documented taser deaths in the US alone. It really should only be used when there is an immediate threat to life - and thanks to the actions of the police officers, they managed to avoid this. Good for them.

Or, in the case of crosscountry delays ' A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...'

455Driver - I'll give £5 to your favourite charity if you volunteer to be tasered on camera as a demonstration of how safe and comfortable it is.

£10 if you can get them to use the drive stun mode on you.

You know what you can do sunshine! <D

I have been tasered during a Police demonstration when my 2 darling little children volunteered me, I am not 'volunteering' again, ever!

Oh it most certainly wasnt 'comfortable' but it is safer than being hit with a baton, given the choice I would choose taser but I would prefer neither if I could help it thanks.

As a former pupil of the school, this type of incident would never of happened during my time at the school, The Chase is one of the better schools, myself being shocked by this incident yesterday.
