You'd have thought that a school would encourage lateral thinking.
You have to remember that St Bede's College was also a boarding school for those who had hopes for training to the priesthood and I was the only day-boy all my years there in the Classics stream up to the Sixth Form.
Noting that theology was part of the Classics stream as a grounding provision, such an interjection that I had made was not at all viewed in good stead..
For some information, a fellow pupil in my year range, but in the Moderns stream, was Mike Harding.
