The Scarborough Spa Express struck a bridge today (31 July) damaging The Duchess of Sutherland`s smokebox. The incident occured between Harrogate and Hornbeam Park, with the train continuing on to Scarborough. A diesel (class and number unknown, sorry) worked the return working.

Guess it`ll be back to The Union of South Africa tomorrow.

The Scarborough Spa Express will continue as planned but steam York-Scarborough-York by 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. Diesel hauled around the Harrogate Circle only,

Diesel was 47826 which should do the Harrogate circle legs today AFAIK. I understand 60009 Union of South Africa will do tomorrow's trip throughout.

There were never any plans for 60009 to run today's trip, and it ran as planned with 47826 and 6233.
The smokebox is undamaged. I am not prepared to say which part has been damaged, though it is only superficial and will be removed and repaired on her return to us at Swanwick Junction.

Humberside, the train was not late, it had been re-timed to arrive at Scarborough at 13:15.
