You don’t often see such a tidy looking loco sitting in the scrap yard like that. I too am bemused as to why DB chose a loco with reportedly high engine hours to repaint as well. Perhaps it was just less knackered than the rest of the 37s they have lying around out of service.

I do wonder what DRS plan to do with so many class 37s. I wonder whether they’re looking to turn a bit of a profit selling some of them on themselves. Plenty of spare parts I suppose to keep their current 37 fleet going as well as restoring a couple of their new acquisitions to working order…

when DBS were using them on railtour duties, had one of it's final runs to Weymouth with 37401, the paint job wasn't the best to be honest...:roll:

It’s true: You can tell they didn’t do a proper job of it from the pictures of it at Kingsbury: With the nameplates off, you can see the EWS maroon underneath: They couldn’t even be bothered to take the nameplates off to do the job properly! They just painted round ‘em!

Not that im bothered either way but i can't see it being scrapped, i mean why hav'nt they touched it yet? I reckon someone has asked them to keep it intact so they can buy it and are just building up finances, or the scrappy thinks if he keeps it long enough he can sell it on, otherwise i think it would be razor blades by now.

From what i was last told, it seems the Scrappy has been lucky - it's alive again! But, will only sell for the right price...Otherwise its metal for Desiro Citys & My Heinz Baked Bean Cans

Why would they?

If it's knackered enough for DBS to send it for scrap, I'd say it's likely no sane FOC would want it for anything other than parts.

Well, I was under the impression that DRS was after any 37s they could get their hands on to expand it's fleet either as runners or spares.

670 was pretty ruined though, sounds like it had killed itself internally and rightly so after 50 years of hard labour and an owner like DBS looking after it badly for so long.

It was still visible and in one piece as of last Wednesday (20th). Kingsbury seem to have been busier cutting 08s and 86s recently.

Good News regarding this loco:

HNRC have advised that they have acquired 37670 currently residing at EMR Kingsbury. It has been indicated that the purchase of 37670 has been delayed by manoeuvres by a preservation group with 'good intentions but no funds' to buy up everything Class 37 related at Kingsbury.
