SCAAT test

I have been practising the SCAAT (shapes) for a conductor assessment.

Does anybody know approximately how many rows I should be aiming to complete on sub-section 3? This seems to be the trickiest part of the test as one of the shapes changes on each line.

Am I right in thinking that the test consists of completing three pages for each sub-section?

Also does anybody know how much time is allowed for each page?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Symbols (3rd section) I was doing 8-10 rows with 0 errors (2 minutes per page). I think precision is more important than speed, so make sure do not make any errors !.

As I remember, during the test, the dots and symbols were about 40% smaller than those printed out at home.

On the 3d section I think I managed something like 3 rows (one minute per page). I was concerned at the time due to the sheer number of rows but it must have been enough because I passed...

This may be contrary to the advice of many but go in blind.

When I did the SCAAT test all I did was practice sheets provided by my (then potential) employer, I didn't sit and worry about the pass mark. If you are worrying about the pass mark while doing the test you are not fully concentrating on the test and given the fact it is a concentration test that's a fairly important part.

Although bear in mind I'm quite a fatalist so I was happy to accept I will either do well and pass or not do well and fail so that advice might not be great for you.

Thanks for that.

BTW, is it one minute per page or two, and is it three sheets for each sub-section?

I take it form what others have said that consistency is more important than speed.

The default settings on the practice program mimic the real life test timings and sheet count for a driver assessment. It might be different for a conductor, but I expect not. Even so, if you do find out it's different then the program allows you to adjust the settings to match.

Consistency, accuracy and speed are all important. However, speed without accuracy is a guaranteed fail. Better to be slightly slower and 100% accurate, than rush along missing too many or marking too many incorrectly.

If you're getting errors then slow down just a fraction. Once you can run thorough with 100% accuracy try speeding up slightly. You will soon find your balance.
