SBB supersaver with FIP

Afternoon all, question is basically the title. Can you use a FIP card to obtain the 50% discount on a supersaver ticket.

Plan is Geneva Airport to Martigny.

Answers seem to vary, found an old thread on here that says no and various threads on the SBB forum which say yes and no.

Does anyone have a definitive answer?

The RDG write:

Discounted ticket purchase online and at TVMs

Self Service purchase is available online from www.sbb.ch/en/home.html or at Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs). Use the Half Fare option “Reduziert ½” to obtain the 50% reduction.

They don't say that you need to look for the standard fare. However, the RDG info is not fault-free (I spotted some errors in the Switzerland section just now), so I'd be a bit cautious to draw conclusions.

I believe the answer is no, but I can't find that officially in writing. The pinned post on the European Rail Staff Travel Facebook page says no, but of course that isn't official! I certainly would advise against attempting it.

Thanks guys, I think its probably worth sticking with the coupons on this trip. I will ask when I'm there and see what they say.

I'm yet to come across any European railway operator that accepts FIP discounts on Advance-type tickets. Generally it's only on the walk-up fare, meaning that public fares can often be cheaper.

I agree, but the RDG website does imply that it would work, which I do doubt.
