SBB/ SNCF Ticket query/ help

So for my exciting summer holiday we (2 adults, one 6yo & one 3yo) are going to Geneva & Annecy, and the plan is to travel between the two by train. So far I have found the SBB and SNCF websites pretty confusing.

We're not going to do enough travelling around to make the half price railcard worthwhile, so we're looking at standard tickets only.

The Leman pass seems a very expensive way to do things considering what we need is a day single, and from what I've managed to discern the best approach is to do a split ticket at Annemasse via SBB (Geneva to Annemasse) and SNCF (Annemasse to Annecy).

If I were to proceed that way is there anything special I need to know? Should I print something out and get it validated by a machine, or are there any other hoops to jump through? Is there a better approach?

We're also planning a day trip to Lausanne, but when I put that into SBB, having told them they we won't be having any discounts it still gives me a price for the 6yo that mentions a half price railcard, so how does that work? I feel like I've missed something there.

And we think British fares can be complex...

Children aged 6 to 16 get half price automatically on Swiss trains, they don't need any kind of railcard. When you buy your tickets, just select the half price option for the child. See this page, which says that Children aged between 6 and under 16 who are travelling alone or with an adult pay half price or the minimum fare for their ticket. There are various annual railcards available for children and families (described on the same page), but these might not be worthwhile if it's just one journey.

I think the easiest option for both SBB and SNCF tickets is to install the respective apps and show the tickets (QR codes) on your phone if there is a check. You can of course print them as a backup solution, but it's not mandatory.
