Say goodbye to EWS!

From 1st January 2009, EWS will be rebranded to "DB Schenker" with the full company name being "DB Schenker Rail (UK) Limited".

EWS will effectivly cease to exist.

I suspect intially they will just be changing lettering on locos and documents etc etc, but i'd imagine at somepoint they will bring out a new livery

That would make sense, but I don't think DB are short of a bob or two so maybe worth it in the long run.

A if I know the Germans, they are very efficient. I don't think half a job will do for them, I can see wide-spread rebranding across the board. Will be interesting to see.

As in the way the name was put together didn't sound like true English (the EWS abbreviation). To anyone who learnt English from books rather than your environment, you pick up words and sayings that don't conform to true English. I always thought EWS sounded American in contrast.

Im not sure whether I will actually miss the EWS image.
I will forever remind me of stored loco's rotting in yards.
Also the loss of a hell of a lot of freight traffic.
In essence it's the same company just easier to forget the formed mistakes.

I assume over time the locos will recieve that DB Red livery, but it will be years until that happens. When TOC's take over other TOC's, nothing is changed for months or even years. Just look when Silverlink or whatever it was called, went down the pan, what happened to the livery? Just a few poxy Overground stickers, nothing happened to the livery. DB is likely to stick some stickers on the locos, and rub off the EWS sign. No repaint jobs are likely to happen soon.

Southeastern have NSE/Connex signs up still, also the last NSE was only repainted last year! Also its taking FCC well over a year to repaint/refurb all the 319s.

I think that the DB Schenker livery is a blue colour - it actually looks quite smart!

Only one has been delivered and its still in testing. What's wrong with calling them electrostars? (a general question, not a gripe at you...)

As with the 321's that London Midland inherited. They're starting to be replaced with more 350's so there was really no point of giving them a tart up if they were going to let them go 18 months later.
