Saving RAW

I have started shooting in RAW wtih my canon 400d, and convert them to .jpeg with 'Digital Photo Professional' programme which came with the camera. However, the RAW images look amazingly sharp when opened on that programme but when I save it to a jpeg its no where near as sharp as it looks on the photo professional.

I click 'Add recipie and save'
then 'covert and save'
Am I doing it right to get the sharpest image?

Providing you are not cropping at all, and you are using a quality setting towards the top end of the JPEG compression then it shall be jst as sharp as the RAW. Don't forget, it could be the program you are looking at the JPEG with, if you are looking at the overall shot fullscreen then the image has been reduced to fit your monitor size (I know of no monitor with a resolution of 3888x2592 pixels). This means that it may not appear sharp, but if you zoom to 100% size I bet it looks as sharp as ever.

Post some example links if you still believe you are getting the problem, but I'm guessing it's the perception given from whatever software you are using.

Well heres a powerpoint to show the difference, the first slide is the default JPEG and the second slide is the RAW.
It never saves to the full quality of raw and i really dont know why.

Whilst the difference is obvious, this is still not being viewed at 100%, show us two identical captures taken at 100% zoom for a proper comparison and the problem may be easier diagnosed.

I know a JPEG is never the full quality of RAW but it shouldn't make a sharp shot fuzzy, unless there's something I don't know about in DPP (But I don't use that for my editing)

JPEG is a method of lossy compression.

Whilst jpeg is a loss compression format, there's no reason it should make a sharp image look like Peles privates! (I presume they're soft if he advertises Viagra)
