Development is ongoing ...

Some of the improvements currently in progress:

- The track and OLE masts and girders are receiving a makeover. The goal is to make them look more credibly three-dimensional while staying close to the look of the original Sandymill route.

- Sandymill station is being rebuilt.

- All stations now feature stopping markers for trains of different length instead of the single S marker. Each route file will include all internal stop positions, which means that no matter which train you use for a route file, openBVE will expect you to stop in the appropriate place. (Unfortunately, it is currently impossible to achieve the same effect for the guard's buzzer.)

Well, most of the space is taken up by the add-ons anyway ...

Why not just give it a try? OpenBVE offers new functionality, there are many new computers can run openBVE but not BVE 4, and quite a few computers can run both achieve higher frame rates with open. Its main drawback is that there are still quite a few BVE2/4 add-ons that do not run properly in openBVE or require some tweaking before they do (in fairness, much of this is due to bugs in BVE, graphics cards, and the add-ons).

I was thinking of giving it a go, but I'll wait until my new PC has arrived early next year. Then it'll play properly.

My screen has just packed up!

That looks really good. :)

It's been years since I drove this route. Sandymill - Invermay was the first route I ever drove after discovering BVE 2 many years ago!

Will be nice to give it another go. ;)

Thanks. I'm working on Sandymill-Ashfield as well. It will take me a while until I publish this version, but in the meantime there's my release from this summer that already features, among other things, BVE 4 signals, fully working AWS, and error-free running in openBVE.

A few screenshots of Invermay Station. Development in this area is essentially complete; the only thing that's missing is trains, which have been temporarily removed from the entire route.

Upgrades in this area include:
- New track layout with sidings
- Smooth curves
- Decent-looking points (turnouts)
- Heavily rebuilt platform area
- Surrounding buildings replaced

There have been many other changes; spot them all and win a prize!

I've been working mostly on the track layout, changing pitch and curve radius in many places, adding smooth transitions, and adjusting cant and lineside signal spacing to match. All this has quite an impact on the driving experience but is not easily conveyed by screenshots, so here's something else: rebuilt Loch Barratt Station and Pinwhirrie Yard (click thumbnails to enlarge).

Thank you very much.

By the way, construction of the new Pinwhirrie Station is well underway, and it will look very different from the old one. Stay tuned ... :)
