I have recently switched from using Google Wallet over to Samsung Wallet to give it a try and see how it compares to the Google system.

However today I had my first major issue, Samsung claims that it has the equivalent of Express Mode as seen in Apple and in the most part it functions pretty well once you have associated a card to this, it doesn’t even wake the phone up for instance when you tap against the reader.
This evening however my phone ran out of charge before tapping out (which shouldn’t have been a problem as it has a version of power reserve which should have allowed me to tap out) I was given the error “Not valid for use on this system“ from the Vix reader (or similar cannot remember the exact wording) despite the fact that it should have been the same card I had used to tap in 30 minutes before.

Has anyone else had any usage of Samsung Pay & is there anyone else more technical than myself that can understand why this might be? I will have to log on and manually complete my journey on the Metrolink website in the next couple of days.

I use Samsung Pay and it does have express/transit mode (as I understand it). I've never had an issue with using it - though having said that - I've never been totally out of charge, so can't comment on that. Its one of many reasons I prefer paper tickets
