same ticket being more expensive at different times

Looking at fares between tamworth and rugby. An anytime day return at 10:47 is £7.25 however before this time an anytime day return is £11, both via any permitted route. Seen quite a few instances of this. Does the £7.25 ticket carry a certain restriction or would it be just as valid on services before 10:47?

I suspect you are checking the price of the ticket with a 16-25 Railcard. On Mondays to Fridays from September to June there is a minimum fare of £12 prior to 10:00 for Anytime Day (and some other) tickets with 16-25 Railcard discount.

Thus a 16-25 Railcard holder is charged the full adult price for this ticket prior to 10:00 on the relevant days, but the Railcard discounted price after that time.

Thank you for the quick response. You're spot on I was checking prices with a 16-25 railcard, and was unaware of this £12 minimum fare. Nice to know for future reference!
