I'm not aware of any that don't. I'm also not aware of any which refuse to change it to 'any card' if asked.

East Midlands Trains allow you to collect your tickets using any card.

Unless this has changed recently, this is only enabled for 'trusted' accounts (the exact criteria for which is unknown but is based on how many previous transactions have been made on the site)

I think practice has changed recently, and most TOCs now seem to allow any-card collection. In fact I am sure this was mentioned in a thread about six months ago.

My recent Virgin booking confirmations say "..any valid debit/credit card to collect your ticket", similarly to the East Midlands image above. On Virgin ticket machines (or the ones at Runcorn, at least), when you press the button to collect tickets booked in advance you are prompted to insert "any valid debit/credit card".

I have also recently seen tickets booked on the Great Western site collected successfully with a different card using one of their machines at Reading.

Yes, there was a recent thread. It was reported here on the day it happened! I also suspect the change was a result of posts made on this forum too.

Buying tickets for friends/family to collect is easy and is covered in our Fares Guide.

....The person with means to pay first needs to purchase 'East Coast Gift Vouchers' which are available in any value multiple required.

That person, or any other person with an East Coast account, then needs to purchase a ticket which meets the passengers' needs, when the payment screen is reached, selecting to pay by e-Voucher.

When the booking is confirmed, the booking reference is released to the passenger. By inserting any card, and entering the booking reference provided on the confirmation screen, the tickets will be issued.

Some other operators will also sell Gift Vouchers, e.g. TPE

A lot of websites don't, it seems to be random and some bookings will do it and some will not with no obvious pattern, as said above it is "trusted" or "business" customers that are more likely/almost certain to get an 'any card' collection. In the ticket office when we pick up TODs if it is any card we just type in the code and it prints, but if it is 'same card only' a pop up box asks for the card to be inserted to read the last 4 digits, and the customer's surname needs to be entered. However this never works as a lot of Trainline sites put the surname as CUSTOMER, so we have to override the system which makes it pretty pointless!

VT also allow this for trusted accounts - other Slavecoach TOCs too probably

A shame this isn't allowed, to get gift vouchers, for Southern as would be nice to take advantage of their money back guarantee. That said, its not the end of the world I guess having to pay a £10 admin fee if unused.

The picture does seem to be somewhat confused (or at least it has confused me!).

I think the thread that Yorkie is referring saying that same-card collection is now being enforced is this one dating from September. However, I have a Virgin booking confirmation in front of me dated 8 October for travel this Friday clearly stating that "any" card can be used for collection - and since I rarely use Virgin for booking, I doubt my account has any special trusted status.

Virgin's ticket machine at Runcorn were inviting me to insert any valid card when I last picked up a pre-booked ticket from them two weeks ago, and the successful any-card pick up with Great Western that I referred to previously was on 7 November with a booking made a couple of days previously, again on a personal account that was unlikely to have any special trusted status.

Not so. For at least one TOC/TVM supplier combination it just happened to coincide with the implementation of a software update that finally allowed compliance with card industry security standards for ToD, and therefore enforcement of same card collection.

This morning I collected Virgin and Crosscountry purchased tickets from a South West Trains station where both emails said use card used to purchase . However all worked with my debit card from a different bank to the credit card used in the purchase.

Is Leciester helpful at collecting tickets at the booking office if any problems? Will a booking office take any card or do they require any ID (or for booking to be made in same name)?

Depend on the TIS - with mine it does ask for the original card used but you can override it pretty easily (which is good as our system asks for a surname that never matches!)

My Dad collected my train tickets for me before on the way to work, but we have the same surname so that may have something to do with it.

Can credit cards be used. If so, hypothetically if two people held the same card, ie mr and mrs jones both shared a credit card. Could they then both use the card to collect from a a same card only collect, as the last 4 digits and the surname would be the same.

(this may also occur with joint bank accounts?)

All it will check is the last 4 digits and in some cases the surname. So if they are the same, then yes it will let you

does it charge a small sum? ie 1 pound to the card and then refund it straight away? Like they do in some shops before purchasing a large item
