Hello, I'm just having a mini-panic, can anyone clarify this for me?
I have a SailRail ticket from Belfast to Glasgow tomorrow, see photo.
The ticket is an Anytime Day Single. I bought it online through Southern (they're just a TOC whose website I'm used to using). When booking I saw the usual message "only select a service if you wish to reserve a seat". I picked the journey starting with the 7.30am sailing, which I hope to make. As far as reservations go, I know that there's nothing on the ferry, but I thought it was worth picking one in case the Ayr-Glasgow train had them, or even the Cairnryan-Ayr coach for all I knew.
I now have a ticket and a reservation coupon for the 7.30 ferry. The ticket doesn't say "valid only with reservation........." so I wouldn't ordinarily think I need to show this to anyone.
However, I made a passing comment about this on another thread a few days back and heard this is a "control ticket". Another thread just started leads me to think this is related to the ferries managing their capacity (logical I suppose). Now I'm a little concerned that I won't get on any other ferry. Trouble is, since booking this ticket I've come to realise that geting a bus to the port from the city centre may be tricky that early. I may prefer to get the 10.30 sailing instead.
Can anyone clarify the situation with the reservation? Sorry for the long-winded post. First leg of my circular trip around the British Isles went well (London-Holyhead-Dublin), and looking forward to the Dublin-Belfast train tomorrow.
