Leighton Buzzard to Galway - Trying to go tomorrow or Monday - coming back on Friday - I can't get an itinery to come up at all - I've tried several websites.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
The Irish Rail times seem to not be available to the booking engines so they won't return results. That means you can't buy online.
If your ticket office has a decent clerk they might be able to issue the ticket without an itinerary, I don't know how the sail rail tickets are arranged so it ma not be possible.
If you can't get the through ticket your only option is to buy separately.
Buy from your station to Dublin Port (Stena or Irish Ferries) on whichever website you like (arrivatrainswales.co.uk can issue these tickets) and buy Dublin-Galway from Irishrail.ie
You will have to pay for the Ferryport-City bus link anyway
The tram fare for Connolly - Heuston is included if you buy a Dublin Connolly-Galway or you can pay separately for the tram if you buy a Dublin Heuston - Galway ticket.
Heuston-Galway online is max 19 one way. walk-up fares are 36.65 one way or 51.40 so best off buy online.
If you have a Leap card paying for the Tram with this will be slightly cheaper, otherwise a single tram fare is 2, the advantage of paying for the tram separately is that you won't have to go into Connolly to collect your rail ticket from the machines.
If you need to do the above then you have 2 options, buy returns or just buy singles and get a sailrail single from the railway station in Galway for your required return date. Sailrail and Irish Rail web fares are priced as singles so no discount for buying as returns.
Irish issued sailrail are still handwritten paper tickets with no reference to booking engines. AFAIR the throuh fare (not including bus link to ferry) from Galway should be around 65-70.
As for times, work them out yourself.
Dublin-Galway times are
here allow 1h30 for Ferry - Heuston transfer.
If travelling today, only option is the 1350 Stena or 14.10 Irish Ferries sailings which would mean getting the 08.56 VT from Milton Keynes.
