Hi Guys - New poster and to this forum. Just thought I would ask you wise people for your opinions.

I have recently applied as a qualified driver from one TOC to another and was wondering whether the safety form (which has been completed and sent to new company HR) goes to the new employers Managers for verification?
The process seems to be taking rather long time to get verified so was wondering whether new companies recruitment people give the thumbs up regarding the ATOC or if they wait for employing managers approval, before scheduling medical etc..

Sorry if this seems naive but advice would be appreciated.

It will vary by company, but at some point, usually after an offer is made, the company will send the form to your current employer to be verified. It shouldn't stop you getting a start date though - contracts and start dates are usually "subject to satisfactory references" which will include the ATOC form.

How far through the process are you? I presume from your post you have had a successful interview and have already handed them the ATOC form which you didn't have verified yourself? (When I moved company they only provided the ATOC form after I was successful. I just filled it in with my line manager and had it countersigned at the same time, this was after my contract had been issued.)

I recently looked at applying for a qualified position at TPE and they wanted all of the forms submitted with the initial application, which I thought seemed strange.
But it did state they would only contact your current company if you were offered a position.

Most TOCs will ask for the form up front, if you've got incidents on your record then they'll want to discuss them at interview.

Usually, though, they only ask for verification from your current employer after making an offer

Greater Anglia wanted the form completed and signed by my manager before I’d even had an interview.

My old GA manager after requests from my new employer and myself still didn't bother to fill it in and send it back..... so I went over his head and got it done.

Thanks for all the replies. Very helpful. Interesting to hear that at this stage, its common to receive a conditional offer (ie, after success at interview) and before ATOC submission.
As has been suggested, companies work differently.
