'S' stock 21005/006 and 21009/010 were both in service on Uxbridge services today.
About 50/50 mix of 1967 and 2009 stock on the Victoria line

Whats a good time to be able to go to Uxbridge on the new S stock? During the evening rush hour?

Well the only train it's guaranteed to turn up on is 441, which does both Watford and Uxbridge runs from Baker Street. I'll get the time for you when I'm at work tomorrow. I've also seen it on 451, which runs as required.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
In evening peak 1634 BKR - WAT 1717; 1728 WAT - BKR 1811; 1819 BKR - UXB 1901; thence empty to Neasden. 451 is A Stock at present.

Unit 21009/10 was on diagram 441 today, bashed it ( my first S stock haulage ) from Harrow on the Hill to Finchley Road on the mid afternoon trip.

Interesting to see that the diagram number appears in all of the carriage side displays, which read: 441 Metropolitan Line ( then destination ).

Internally it was rather chilly, the seating arrangement is interesting but there are rather fore conventional seats ( as opposed to sideways crab seats ) than I had expected. As is usual these days, the interior lights are a zillion watts, but at least they have glare diffusers which cut down some of the discomfort. The ( large ) window to seat match is pretty good.

Question: Should we not have a separate thread for the S stock updates?

I've been keeping track from the office and every time I've looked it's always been on train 441, and occasionally on 451. Yet to travel on it, but I only tend to use the Met line north of Baker Street when going to Sainsbugs at Finchley Road once per week.

Agreed; thread split.

Have there been any test runs in past Baker Street yet? On a Circle from Aldgate to Kings Cross on Sunday I saw what I guessed were S8 stop boards- "Target" type ones with arrows pointing to a central vertical line- at the end of the platforms.

A few months ago, during an engineering possesion, i saw an S8 in the centre platforms at Aldgate.
S7 stop marks are installed at Aldgate East.

Had my first ride on an S stock yesterday. Sorry I forgot to get the numbers everyone - i need to brush up on my trainspotting skills. Very nice of course but I was disappointed with its acceleration - had expected a massive improvement. I timed a departure from Northwood Hills towards Northwood and it took 30 seconds to reach 35 mph. A Class 378 can do this in around 20 seconds. Anyone else been on one yet?

The acceleration and top speed of S stock is currently limited to be the same as A stock.

Ah ok, thanks for the info.

If I remeber from what I've seen they have a 'walk through' corridor, similar to that on a Cl378?

Yes, they have full width gangways throughout the 8 cars, so it's like a single 8 section caterpillar carriage.

OK.... doesn't the strike function work on here?
