Since the original thread for this has been long closed, have had to start this one.

So, I'm a little confused as to how the S7+1s are nowadays. As far as I'm aware, there is still one set in service, 21323/21324.

As I understand it, 3 sets were made up to 8 cars by taking 1 car from 3 other S7s which went to Derby as 6 car sets. Obviously all other S7s are back as 7 cars by now, but how come there's still one set around if all others are back as 7? There obviously isn't one set running around as a 6 car in the meantime.

From what I've seen, 21323/21324 has 25386 in it, but 21386/21387 has it's full 7 carriages all belonging to it, so was 25386 an extra? I believe 25384 also exists somewhere, but again, 21384/21385 is already 7 without having that carriage in it.

21323/24 remained as +1 for the Croxley Link enhancement, which didn’t happen. It initially had car new 25384 in the formation but this was removed on a visit to Old Dalby in August 2018. Car 25384 returned by road to London and was stored at the LTM Depot Acton.
21323/24 re-entered service as a S7 in 2018.
On its visit back to Derby for CBTC mods, car 25386 was inserted and is still running on the MET in this formation.

21319/20 had additional new car 25382 as a +1 but this was removed at Derby when the train returned for engineering mods. Car 25382 was later correctly placed into 21381/82 when that left Derby when built.

21327/28 had additional new car 25386 as a +1 but this was removed at Derby when the train returned for engineering mods, (see 21323/24 above).

so of the additional cars:
25382 in 21381/82
25384 was Derby, now reported as Pershore?
25386 in 21323/24.

And regarding the units which were initially stored as 6-car, while 21381 did eventually regain car 25382 as mentioned above, new cars were added to the build for units 21383 and 21385. These are numbered 23384 and 23386 and not fitted with de-icing equipment, unlike those removed for the S7+1s (hence no clash with the 25xxx numbering of those).

It therefore became the case that the S7 stock fleet has three fewer de-icing units than previously intended (those two, and additional unit 21567 replacing 21323), while unit 21323 itself has two de-icing cars in its formation.
