They going to leave this one to rust in the yard too?

People seem to think that just because an engine is rusting out of traffic, it should be overhauled straight away, that's not the point, the point is that if the money is available, they will overhaul it, otherwise it wont be

Sorry my post was tongue in cheek i am fully aware of the problems associated with this kind of thing through my experience at the KWVR.

You're preaching to the converted, about the Austerity locos up there. The 2 - 10 - 0 should have been into the shops, before it had even gone cold. The S160 is too readily dismissed too; the design has its problems, but unlike some other locos that have been hired in, it will actually do the job!

However, there hasn't been the spare workshop space to do them at any time, and there is no money; bank borrowing to finance the impending overhauils of 80135 & 30926. Whether overhauling the Austerities would have been a more cost effective proposition, than certain other motive power decisions, isn't for me to pass comment on! ;)
