S&C diversion ticketing question

If I buy two day returns 1x Lancaster-Carlisle and 1x Lancaster-Preston does that allow me to do a Lancaster-Carlisle-Preston-Lancaster circle via the S&C during the period of diversion?

You are asking if you can split at Lancaster without the train calling there?

Officially, no. But you could ask. Last time I did this journey there was no ticket check, but if they do check tickets and you've not been granted prior permission, they could charge a new single from Carlisle to Preston.

A ticket routed via Lancaster would still be valid on the diversionary route, so discretion may be shown.
