I’m sorry that this post does not directly involve trains and hope that it’s allowed to remain on the forum. But the Paddle Steamer Ryde previously owned by both Southern Railway and British Rail needs your help.

This is a must for people with a interest in history, Maritime activity or ANYONE who feels its unjust to scrap a vessel with such history. Having been commissioned in 1936 on the Portsmouth to Ryde passenger ferry serviceand even used as HMS Ryde on D-Day.

There would be precious little difference between a restoration and a replica in this case and there isnt the money for either. I really wish this wasnt the case, but she needed to be saved decades ago to have half a chance. A crying shame.
