Ryanair have said they will not strictly enforce it, but will advise people for a couple of months, including through the Christmas and New Year period. But expect them to be super tough from early January.

It might be they can't turn off print at home option until the start date, it is probably too complicated to have a transition which checks both outward and return flight date and determines if should be allowed to print, even print outward, but not return as trip straddles the date.

From memory there are some airports where physical boarding passes remain compulsory. This might be factor in print at home still being available at the moment.

Presumably there's also the factor that at the moment, you still have people flying who booked before the change was announced - but that the cut off when all flights must have been booked after the announcement of the change can't be that far away.

If the boarding pass can be stored in Apple wallet they can be shared easily - Airdop, message, email, Whatsapp. I'm not an Android user so don't know if it has similar.

Sharing from apple wallet applies to similar passes, theatre tickets, rail tickets etc.

Will you be able to save your boarding pass to Apple wallet from the changedate? lf so then surely that defeats the purpose of the changes..?

And harvest even more data, which I suspect is the main interest. Data is precious and makes a lot of money.

And relatively speaking you can collect a lot more data from an app, especially on Android, than from a website.

This is better than at present where there is a fee charged by Ryanair for them to re-print your boarding pass for you if you have lost it/your phone has died.

You don't have to use the app to check-in, you can check-in online using a normal computer browser or your phone's browser. But if you can't/won't use the app, you will have the added faff of having to queue up to get a printed boarding pass.

And what's the betting that there won't be enough people staffing this desk, or it's also the desk where people make complicated time-consuming queries?

I see this as overkill. If someone feels more comfortable doing it all online at home on thier home PC and using thier time, thier printer and thier ink, not to mention thier electricity to do it, then whats the deal?

Sure the airlines want to to save on having to employ extra personnel to man check ins, so this should be a win for them as the passenger has more or less done the airline employees job for them to some extent.

Also the 'print it at home' solution works for those with limited technical knowledge, in a round and about way making it an accessibility thing.

Also for those who cannot use technology, maybe a family memver can do it for them, print one off and give it to the passenger.

I think its great to get people who can do it to just get the pass on the app and be done with it. A few taps and done, but there are people with varying degrees of technical ability when it comes to phones computers etc. This old solution fills a gap for some.

Interesting article in Aviation Week on Ryanair plane orders.

It discusses the Lauda Air subsidiary which has leased Airbus A320 series (at cheap leases renegotiated in pandemic to 2028-29) and if Ryanair can replace them. The Airbus A320 series order book is full to 2032, the other option is leasing, but O'Leary says leases will be too expensive.

For main Ryanair fleet the last 737-8200 will be delivered early in new year. Then there is no new planes for over a year. Boeing 787-10 deliveries are scheduled to begin Spring 2027. There are 300 of the type on order with deliveries through to 2031.

The 737-10 is not yet certified, Boeing and Ryanair hoping it will be quarter 2 2026, or maybe quarter 3. But of course there is risk certification is delayed.

Ryanair Group CEO Michael O’Leary has confirmed he is in talks with Airbus regarding a refresh of subsidiary Lauda’s A320 fleet.

“If I could do an Airbus order for 50 aircraft—which would give 25 aircraft to Lauda and would give Lauda 25 aircraft to expand—I would happily do it,” O’Leary told Aviation Week on Nov. 25 onboard a Boeing 737-8-200 during a flight from Bratislava to Vienna.

“They don’t really trust me, and they don’t particularly like me,” O’Leary said of his relationship with Airbus. “They’re convinced that no matter what they offer me, I will show it to Boeing—and of course I will!” But he insisted interest in an Airbus order for Lauda “is real.”

“The problem at the moment is, the Airbus [A320neo family] orderbook is full to 2031, 2032,” the CEO said, adding that Ryanair has to wait for the next downturn in the industry which would be its opportunity to expand and order more aircraft.


Asked if the A320neo or A321neo are of particular interest for Lauda, O’Leary said it all depends on the operating cost. “I couldn’t care less if it would be an Ceo, a Neo, a 320, a 321—if you can get it at a low cost per seat, whether new or second hand, we don’t care,” he said. “Ultimately, if we can’t find new Airbus [aircraft], we’ll have to put 737s in there.”

When asked if bringing aircraft in from lessors could be an option for the Lauda fleet refresh, O’Leary dismissed the idea. “You can’t have a low-cost airline working with a leasing company; these are the cocaine-dealers of the industry,” he said. “They give you an aircraft, but it is very expensive and then you go bust.”

Ryanair closes frequent flyers club after members take advantage of discounts

Ryanair is shutting its frequent flyers members’ club after only eight months because customers exploited its benefits too much.

The budget airline said on Friday it was closing the scheme, which offered benefits including flight discounts, free reserved seating on up to 12 flights a year and travel insurance.


It said 55,000 passengers had signed up to Prime, generating €4.4m (£3.5m) in subscription fees but customers had received more than €6m in benefits, making it a lossmaker for the company.

Dara Brady, Ryanair’s chief marketing officer, said: “This trial has cost more money than it generates. This level of membership, or subscription revenue, does not justify the time and effort it takes to launch monthly exclusive Prime seat sales for our 55,000 Prime members.”

The company said it would return to offering discounts to “all our customers, and not this subset of 55,000 Prime members”.

Prime was launched in February at a cost of £79 and €79 a year to customers in the UK and the EU. With seat costs ranging from £4.50 to £38, the scheme could have saved between £54 and £456, the equivalent of several low-fare flights, for those making use of the maximum 12 flights a year.

The membership scheme was opened for a 12-month rolling basis with automatic renewal in February.

Ryanair said all members would continue to “enjoy exclusive low fare offers until October 2026 but no new members will be allowed to sign up after Friday, 28 November.

“We are grateful to our 55,000 Prime members who signed up to this Prime trial over the last eight months, and they can rest assured that they will continue to enjoy exclusive flight and seat savings for the remainder of their 12-month membership.”

Ryanair, the market leader in budget airlines, with more than 207 million passengers a year, made low fares its unique selling point but managed to claw back revenue on equally innovative charging for bags and seats, something unheard of 20 years ago.

Can you save the boarding passes to your Google/Apple/Samsung wallets.

The reason I ask is because some people on r/ryanair report having faced glitches on the app.

I know easyJet and Wizz allow for you to keep on in the app and one in your wallet. This way any technical glitch on the app/company website doesn't really matter too much as you've got one saved in your phone.

I once experienced a glitch with easyjet app, but I had a spare copy of BP stored in wallet, so ultimately everything was ok

Quite reasonably they require evidence of the missed flight (boarding card etc).

However since it's now impossible to print boarding cards from the Ryanair App, and as my booking seems to have disappeared off the app now the flight has taken place, all I have is an email from Ryanair about my flight.

Is anyone else in the same situation and if so how did you get evidence of your booking?

It's accessible by logging into ryanair.com, clicking "myRyanair portal" (top right once you're logged in), "Manage my bookings" on the left hand column, picking the booking you want evidence for, and then "manage this booking".
Then, when it loads, there's a "Things you can do" column.
Click on the "Download booking and inflight receipts" option, and select "Booking receipt".
There's print and download options for the information.
Edit: Forgot to mention, there's also a "Request an Insurance letter" option that may be useful to you under the "Things you can do" column.

But that's the whole idea. Doing STN - BER in a few weeks and will try the paper boarding pass which they offer. Already have it printed out with EZY for the return to BHX.
