Hi all,
This isn't my area of expertise - so would appreciate a little guidance please.
I was booked on Ryanair FR1659 from Budapest to Stansted this morning - but its being delayed pretty catastrophically (estimated to be 11hr35min delayed). I've been informed that it *is* the fault of Ryanair but no more detail than that.
The new arrival time would strand me in London overnight - so it wasn't much of an option. I was also informed that there was no room on other Ryanair flights, so I've managed to book a Wizz one to Gatwick at 10:30am - so not so catastrophic. It was about £81 which all things considered isn't horrific.
It seemed to be the best thing to do as the queue for information was getting increasingly chaotic and irate, and the advice of "wait in the airport" for 12+ hours wasn't exactly desirable.
My question is - what sort of compensation am I entitled to? I've been told that I can refund the Ryanair flight, but what of the extra cost of the Wizzair one?
I don't expect the full whack EU261 compensation as I have effectively no-showed for the Ryanair one, though it would naturally be nice to have.
Thanks in advance.
