My Gt Grandfather was a Steam Loco Driver (Static) at Healds Foundry in Stockport and in 1882 was sent out to Russia by them to help build the Siberian railway.
I have tried looking in newspapers of the period to try and get more details without success. Can anyone out there flesh out the facts? I still have his orginal passport and a photo taken whilst out there but that's it.
