Running Between Stations on the Line - What would happen?

Not planning on this, just interested.

Say you are at a remote Glasgow station and you suddenly decide to jump on the tracks at a quiet time, what would happen? How long would it take the CCTV's to spot you and phone the police on you? Would anything happen when you stepped on the lines up here in Glasgow? Could you, in theory, run from stations that are close by each other without anybody spotting you?

If you're spotted on CCTV by the operator or a member of station staff - you can at the very least expect to be told to get your act together and get off of the rails. It's probably down to the discretion of who sees you and what exactly you're doing - but there is a good chance BTP Will be contacted. If you're caught the least you could expect is a fixed penalty for £50 for trespassing on the railway (or the Scottish Equivalent). If however you don't meet the criteria you could be summonsed to court or arrested. If you're not spotted, electrocuted or mowed down by a train then obviously nothing would happen....

It does a bit, but mine usually goes towards when the station was opened, what its history is, who originally built it, how it's changed over the years and how I might improve it if I had the resources. Mind you, I've asked some strange questions of people in the past when researching things. I once took a crash course in anti-aircraft warfare from a chief petty officer on Navy Day a few years ago while researching for a book. I've also discussed what it's like to be in a submarine being hunted by helicopters and frigates, where the worst place to be hit by a missile is, and all sorts of other things. And that's just one book.

You may know when the timetabled services are due, but what you think is a quiet time on that line may have a early/late freight train running through or an empty stock movement/test train.

I'd imagine, if you didn't look drunk (and I have experienced being on a train passing drunkards walking on the tracks in Glasgow before!), it would be highly likely you would be reported for suspected cable theft and BTP/local police would be there fairly quickly.
