Rules on a ticket split - missed departure

Hi,
I purchased through the LNER app 2 tickets for a journey today:

1) Grand Central KGX to York
2) Transpenine York to NCL

Because of a fatality at Hichin this morning, the Grand Central train is very delayed and I will miss the Transpenine connection. I know I can get the next TP train but am I able to get on a faster LNER train to Newcastle if its 'the next available train'?

Are they Advance tickets? If so, you have to use the same TOC as the original one. If they are walk-ups you can use any train that is compliant with the ticket restrictions.

Is the York-Newcastle ticket one that is only valid on Transpenine services? (i.e. an Advance ticket or marked "TPE only".) If so, the NR Conditions of Travel say:

9.4. Where you are using a Ticket valid on a specific train service or train services (such as an ‘advance’ Ticket) and you miss a service because a previous connecting train service was delayed, you will be able to travel on the next train service provided by the Train Company with whom you were booked without penalty.

So in that case you'd only be allowed to travel by the next TPE service. You could, however, ask the guard of the LNER train before boarding if they'd allow you to travel on their service.
