Rules and Procedures (driver training)

Hi all

I am due to start training with Scotrail and I am wondering where I can get a copy of the Rules and procedures that I will have to learn on the course, just to give me a head start?

My advice is don't go getting ahead of yourself, you'll only end up confused (and possibly frightened! ). There is a lot to take in and your Rules tutor will take you through the book. If you still fancy a look though:

The modules I am issued with are: G1,AC,M1,M2,M4,M5,P1,P2,S1,S2,S3,S4,S5,SP,SS1,SS2,TW1,TW2,TW3,TW5,TW6,TW7,TW8. There will also be a red amendments module (AM) for you to cut and paste amended rules out of into the blue modules - issued every 6 months.

In addition to those you will also be issued with a Sectional appendix, Professional drivers handbook and Traction guides appropriate to the depot you will be based at along with any other books ScotRail issue to their Drivers.

It looks daunting but once you get into it and then see how it all works you'll get the hang of it and before you know it you will do it as second nature. Enjoy

Agree with driver9000 above, by all means take a look but don't start trying to understand it all as you could overload yourself! I'm also due to start with ScotRail soon, what's your start date?

You don't need a head start, that is what the course is for, it will be a waste of time as the course is set out in sections not nesscesarily in order of the rule book. Just be patient and to be honest a head start will not give you a head start with both the trainer or your future work mates.

Thanks for the info Driver9000. I will definately be having a look to get familiar with whats involved in the modules.

I want to have a look at the Rules and procedures so I have an idea of what I will be coming it to on the training, this is not an execise to beat the trainer or work mates.

I'm doing rules pt2 with scotrail right now and I can honestly say dint even think about looking at the rules book yet as it will utterly bamboozle you. It is not taught in the order of the book and even then we are going back and forward with it. Leave it to the trainers they are good at what they do and will help make sense of it all. Hood luck my friend and if you need a hand we are on the course ahead of you.
