The reason I asked if any of you actually go to games is that I was wondering if Rugby is better watched on TV or at the ground live. Some sports lend themselves to be watched live, others on TV. Wondered where Rugby stood

Xcdriver I went to Wales nz last November, 2 England 6 nations matches in Feb and March, and also Wales vs England in the August warm ups, and can say you cannot beat the atmosphere. I'm England through and through, but when Wales scored the winner the crowd roar from the Welsh I'm surprised didn't remove the roof off the millenium stadium which was closed on that day. As a rugby fan Despite being undefiably English I have often bought tickets for Wales games in cardiff just for the atmosphere, cardiff is around 150 miles each way compared to 320 miles each way to twickenham, and Welsh tickets are generally half the price of England tickets.

Its has to be live, stood next to the opposition and having a laugh, soaked to the skin, fantastic.
My son used to play for Sheffield U18`s as tight head prop, my proudest moment was seeing him score a try whilst two guys from Matlock were hanging onto him. It was on Mothers day as well I could not have wished for anything better.

Forgot to mention about not being segregated depending on which team you were as newbie babs mentions, the banter with the opposition who you could be with even at twickwnham is amazing. At the 6 nations we were sat alongside some Italians. We were hammering them, yet quite happily having friendly banter and a sing song with the Italians. Can you imagine that at a football match? All you hear at football when we play the Italians is of rioting, and people getting stabbed!

I'm a 100% Welsh fan but i personally like to see all the home nations do well.
I bear no malice towards England and will cheer them on unless they are playing us!

I suppose with Simon shaw on the sub`s bench and Nick Easter resting his back I will have to take more notice of Steve Thompson.

Wow! That's quite a thrashing! Wouldn't want to be waking up a Namibia fan this morning. I've had a soft spot for SA ever since I visited the country, so if England or Ireland don't win, they are my alternative choice.

I can't call rugby scores. I happily gamble on F1 and Football, but rugby, I couldn't possibly say.

Alrighty then I'll nail my colours to the mast and say that England will sneak a win by no more than 6 points.
My guess --> England 17 - 11 Romania.
Two converted tries from England and a penalty
One try and two penalties from Romania.
Now if that comes up i'll eat my hat
Off to watch Oz vs USA now.

Ok I see Romania with 3 penalties as I think England will concede a lot of those due to indiscipline but 25 points??? What do you think will be the breakdown of those - 3 tries, 2 conversions & 2 penalties? Just curious really..
Well it was fun for the first 20 minutes or so - then a bit of a walkover. Still it makes the next games interesting, Ireland vs Italy will be an absolute corker of a game....from a neutral point of view anyway.
Wonderful stuff.

After not scoring a try in their defeat by Ireland, Australia scored 11 tries in the expected easy win over U.S.A. and they obtained their added bonus point.
It was not a good ending for the Australian midfield backs, as Rob Horne suffered a fractured cheekbone and Anthony Faingaa was knocked unconscious in the final minute.

Romania's matches to date have seen a loss to Scotland by 10 points in their first match, then a loss to Argentina by 35 points. Logic tells me that England will want to do even better than Argentina and the indiscipline problems might now have started to be addressed.
With that in mind...and my head on the chopping block, my forecast will be : -

At least both newbie babs and I said that England would score over 50 points and newbie babs correctly forecasted that Romania would only score 3 points.
Both wingers Chris Ashton and Mark Cueto scores three tries each in the match. Johnny Wilkinson was replaced at half-time by Toby Flood (who made 4 out of 5 conversion attempts.)
Depressingly, there was still a high penalty count against England in this match.
