I see England have an all black change kit, I think it looks a little too much like the New Zealand team kit.

There is nothing more satisfying than beating England. No matter which celtic team manages to do it, they all rejoice together.

Add to that all the ex-colonial teams, and their referees.(Not to mention the traditional ex-England players). The only referees I have seen that are consistently neutral in England games are the French - today's match illustrated that, I think.

Flipping good job for England that the Argies kicking was as bad as Wilkos.....

Youngs is fast and like a whippet and things turned round when he came on.
He looks around and thinks very quickly and can run fast once he has committed himself.

Wilkinson was shocking, never before have I seen him play so badly and miss so many.

It was a good game as we won but some of the decisions by an certain official were a bit dubious, Argentina should feel lucky some of their players were not sent to the sin bin

Ref may have been harsh, but in all honesty, was he ever wrong?
We played poor. Kept giving away simple penalties. We were lucky it was Argentina we were playing. Had that been Scotland, we would probably have lost.

Agree with that. Some underhand tackles, and they knew just what they were doing with those illegal challenges, yet all went unpunished. Thats the only problem with the ref. Did he not see them.
Still, cant get away from our poor poor performance.

Maybe my opinion (and of course those in the pub with me) but the ref did make mistakes with not sin binning Argentina players, waiting until the last 15 minutes of the second half before he starts telling them for the infringements they were making, even though they had been making them for the full game.

I am not saying we were good, as we played poor to what we could have played, but I go for fair decisions.

3 dangerous tackles , 2of them high tackles and he did not even call the Argentina player over.

A couple of times spring to mink: Ashton called for not releasing when the ball was already out of the ruck; a forward called for going off his feet when both feet were on the ground; several instances of "offences" being created by opposition players playing the man. And the discrepancy in the allowances for advantage....

New Zealand 83....Japan 7

Whilst a totally emphatic score, Japan at least kept the All Blacks to under 100 points, which they did not do in a past World Cup match many years ago when the All Blacks looked like achieving 180 points, until they eased off with 20 minutes to go. I thought that Japan scored a very good try towards the end of the game.

A much improved Springboks performance since their narrow 17-16 win over Wales. Fly-half Morne Steyn scored a try and kicked five conversions and two penalties.

OMG what a fantastic game and Ireland win 15 - 9 against Australia. It was brilliant. Ireland played as a team and Australia were not allowed to show any of their game play.

It leaves a very good prospect of who might play who in the quarter finals. South Africa V Australia perhaps !!

I will be getting up at 4am to watch Wales and then England.

I totally agree with you, especially regarding how Ireland played as a team unit. There are not that many matches in which Australia do not score tries.

The match score was only 15 - 6 when I had to leave a few minutes early, so Australia must have scored either a very late drop goal or a penalty after I left, as you say the final score was 15 - 9. The two penalties by Ronan O'Gara in the second half were critical, as it stretched the lead at just the right time of the game.

Wales 17...Samoa 10

Wales had the physical game applied on them by Samoa, who led 10-6 at the break which gave hopes that they might repeat the wins they had over Wales in the 1991 and the 1999 competitions. However, the second half showed Wales making a better show of things, as they did against South Africa, and the try scored by Shane Williams 13 minutes from time proved decisive.

Score 41 – 10 to England

Well Georgia played well especially when England scored a try and Georgia would bounce back like rats up a drain pipe.

England had some inspirational moments especially when Hartley was sin binned and then subbed for the older much more experienced Thompson.

Simon Shaw became the oldest rugby world cup captain (made me smile) and actually did a great job in pulling the team together. Six fantastic try’s but for me especially the ones from Tuilage and the flying diver Ashton. Scrumming is getting better as the game went on. Lets hope Ashtons wrist is ok.

It would be hoped we stretch ourselves a bit more to Romania so we are at full steam for Scotland

I'm not decrying the effort,but the score was only 17-10 at the break. The England team discipline needs some attention paying to it before the later stages of the tournament. when playing with only 14 whilst offenders are in the sin-bin can prove devastating. As you say, Georgia showed a lot of spirit in the match, especially in the first-half to keep the England lead to only 7 by the break.

Six tries..Ashton (2), Hope (2), Tuilagi and Armitage (in his new position) meant the 4-try bonus point was gained.

A few years ago I went to see Newcastle vs Manchester. Saw Martin Johnson, but Wilkinson was injured, unsurprisingly.

This rugby world cup is the best advert I've yet seen for rugby league.

I've not been terribly impressed with the big names, more spirit and momentum resides in the lower ranks. The USA pulled some great passing vs Russia, and Japan stood pretty solid against France. I saw that game at North Harbour stadium, and by half time I was quite solidly rooting for the Japanese.

My team, Scotland, have been almost a constant disappointment thus far in terms of their game on the field. Too many schoolboy handling errors and what seems to be a fear of running with the ball. There were a few fantastic opportunities against Georgia thrown away and the game degenerated into another kicking match with a mediocre scoreline. I wouldn't have minded so much if it wasn't so obvious Scotland utterly dominated the Georgians.

I have seen the very sad demise of Manchester Rugby Club over the last few years and have attended many matches at the Cheadle Hulme ground. It was bad enough two years ago, but last season, if you looked at the results, you would have thought that they were playing the All Blacks every week. When the final league table was produced, with them at the bottom, I did not think that they would have had enough space to put the "points conceded" total.:roll:....This season finds them in National League 3 (Midlands), but their form even at this level, two divisions lower than in 2009, sees them with the wrong sort of 100% record. Bottom of the league again, Played 3...Lost 3. Points for : 30...Points against : 156. League total points : NIL.

The team nearest to where I now live is Macclesfield RUFC who play in National League 1 and are in third place, behind Fylde and Ealing. This is a very good standard of rugby. They have a very difficult match away to Blaydon today, if they are to preserve their 100% record.

Yes, I attend some Scarlets games, and watch other Pro12 or whatever it is called on TV.

This rugby world cup is the best advert I've yet seen for rugby league.

No problem. Some of us like Union, some fo us prefer League, some like both!

I think that this World CUp has, so far at least, proven that the gap between the major nations and the weaker ones is narrowing.

Not league or cup games no, but I have attended many local games when my sons were playing. Not just to watch them, but because I was fixtures manager for their teams.
