It was a poor performance in the first half and a lot of the second until Shaw and Banahan came on.
Too little too late and we pay the price, that`s how it goes.
Can`t understand why some of the players who started were picked to start but I am sure more discussion with the team, coaches and manager will take place.

Australia had to produce a better performance than they did in some of their pool games and did so this morning, but just shaded the match to beat South Africa by a very narrow margin of two points. Maybe they are coming good late in the competition.

Well next week will see the game of the tournament so far as Australia take on New Zealand in the second semi-final.

Argentina gave a very good account of themselves against New Zealand and the score was only 18-10 until they were reduced to 14, when New Zealand then scored two late tries to take the final score to 33-10.

Whilst France looked good for three-quarters of the game against a very poor English performance with poor tactics, they will find the team co-oridination of the Welsh team a totally different challenge when they meet in the semi-final, where the incentive of a place in the final will be a great motivator to both these teams.
In some ways a more open game against the French may suit Wales better. Who knwos, though? When France are on top of their game they can blow anyone away.
I think it's right to remember that England played porrly against France though. Possibly that made them (the French) look better than they are?

If wales played like they did yesterday then they are more than up to the challenge of france. It seems some are already predicting a wales vs new zealand match in the final.

Wales are certainly playing well. I think the New Zealanders would like a NZ v Wales final - there is a definite affinity between the two countries, if only because we are the only two where rugby union is the number one sport!
When I went down there a few years back I got myself a credit card with the design of the Welsh flag. Every time I took it out of the wallet to pay for something, a conversation about rugby would ensue! It was brilliant!
The only thing that could have been better about the country was more trains really!

Indeed! However I would disagree - up here in North Wales its rather rarer to find somebody with an interest in rugby. We never played rugby in school, I didn't know anything of what the game entailed until I moved down to Cardiff.
There is a lot more interest in rugby down south, but there is quite a bit of rugby played in the north too (George North comes from there!). A mate of mine once had a few games for Harlech at outside half, he said the standard in the north was a bit lower than what he was used to, and, to be honest, the WRU could do a lot more to improve the game at the grass roots in north and mid wales.
What I found in Gwynedd was far more interest in football, and especially Wrexham/Everton/Liverpool than I expected. I wonder if the current success of the national team will help to change this, even in a small way?

There was some interest whilst the Crusaders were playing in the Super League up here, which of course ties in closer with NW England than South Wales. Since that's folded, nobody knows what will happen there.
Of course there is still rugby played up here, but the fact the Scarlets are the "regional" WRU team for West, Mid and North Wales is an absolute joke. I think the WRU gave up on creating interest in Rugby in the North as a lost cause.
Football is, as you say, the number one in the north. However attendances at Wrexham have dropped dramatically, I guess there's now more support for the bigger NW clubs particulary Liverpool and Man Utd. Though a change of fortunes could be possible for Wrexham in the coming year with a bit of luck
The Scarlets have long since given up even pretending to cover the north. There are a few od us who want to see a fifth region covering north wales, but the WRU are not really that interested in doing anything concrete, or so it would appear at least.
My personal view is that there is a lot of talent that is being missed to rugby union. As a small nation we can't afford that to happen! The same also applies to support and fan base, of course.

That in my view is a distinct possibility having watched all the quarter-finals.
On your day you are a match for the French, All Blacks and Aussies.
Good luck in the final when you have eliminated France.
You have to wonder what is going on in the England set up. Clearly there is something not quite right there. They have looked poor on the pitch, and off the pitch, well, let's just say the behaviour in that area leaves a little to be desired.
I would like to hope this Rugby World Cup was nothing but a 'one off', a world cup where the players lost their touch, the quality of their game was low and the off pitch behavior was terrible. But nonetheless, a one off, and come the next world cup, England will be back to their best, both in terms of on and off field play.

Looking at the two key positions that were strengthened by France, prior to the match against England, I cannot see them making any changes (injury permitting) for the semi-final match against Wales.
Now would be a good time to start placing bets on the finals.
My predictions
France v Wales
It will be close, and the Welsh will edge the carnage, but I think France will be the victors.
NZ v Australia
The million dollar question! Obviously, New Zealand will be keen to beat their biggest rivals at home, in front of their fans and in their world cup, but Australia will fancy an upset nonetheless. NZ win.

I have a feeling the wheels might come off this Welsh side against France. I am not as confident as I was against Ireland, and I wasn't that confident then! I agree, a win for France!

I have to say I hope Wales beat France in the semi-finals. They have shown themselves to be a quality rugby side, far more professional than England and disciplined both on and off the pitch.

Wales are an excellent team. On their day they can really come out with creative, thoughtful and complex play. It will be close, but the French are quite unpredictable. One minute they can be ten points behind, the next they are fifty ahead!
