building update today, any comments on the rather strange cladding?

It reminds me of a newly built high school / college...an unusual choice, but to me it's neither pleasing nor jarring to the eye, it's unremarkable. If that was the aim, which I guess is possible, then visually it's a success.

I guess mainly the aim for it is to be,like you say, nether pleasing or jarring and just joins the background. After all, making it a target to "terrorist"
Targets for example cannot be at all and must be pre planned do divert around then
