Rugby Platforms

Is someone stood, say 1 metre from the edge really at risk at Rugby with it's slow speed limit yet not at risk at somewhere with a faster speed limit that happens to have a yellow line nearer the edge? Of course not! The laws of physics are no different at Rugby.

0-75 mph 1.25m
75-100mph 2m
100-125mph 2.75m

As I understand it, the existing island platform at Rugby is going to be retained. I think that just demolishing the entire station and rebuilding a new design from scratch, with the fast lines in the centre, away from the platforms would have been a much better option.

If the new platform is going to be the main northbound platform, which appears to be the case, it would be nice to have a little more shelter. Poxy little canopy in front of the new entrance and a sort of bus shelter/waiting room hybrid at the far north end of the platform isn't exactly ideal!
