Or because it's a Bletchley guard and they don't do tickets, and definitely don't do selling them!

If going south from Long Buckby the purchase will almost certainly take place at Euston gateline.

:D
Fair point! Which, as I'm sure we've discussed before, given they receive a higher commission than the rest of the company, is simply poor

Never ever email a train company to "clarify" something, there's the lesson. The right answer has been posted in the thread.
Why? I mean, we sort of get why. What you’re suggesting here though is that there is no point contacting customer services on the railway because they do not have the knowledge to respond accurately. Whilst I’m not suggesting you’re entirely wrong, it’s worrying that this kind of suggestion is necessary.

I have never had any problem boarding at Long Buckby with RTV's, my trips are to Birmingham, and I use the excess ticket window there.

If you did that from a local station to somewhere like Leeds or Manchester you’d almost certainly be taken to one side and receive a penalty fare which the staff member issuing it would be all too happy to tell you you should “definitely appeal”. They’ll then tell you they have no targets.

I've yet to meet a TOC customer services that knows what they're on about. But on the plus side, most are happy to do whatever it takes to get rid of you, so I've funded many years of rail travel by kicking off until they pay out to make it go away, always paying far more than a correct resolution at the start would have cost!

Whereas I've done it at Euston when Bletchley booking office was closed and was correctly just sold a ticket. That said, things are typically more reasonable down here than the Northern contract staff.
