RTVs at a tube station?

I have bunch of RTV's that i'd like to use towards my annual travelcard renewal. How long does it take to scan through an RTV? Is there paperwork or is it just scan the barcode and move on?

I have about 10-15 RTVs here and i don't want it to take ages.

Amount of time spent processing RTVs: minimal.

Amount of time spent persuading a London Underground ticket clerk to accept said RTVs: well, let's just say, bring a flask.

(By means of a less facetious answer, no paperwork is required; the barcodes are scanned in by the clerk.)

Don't try to do it when it's busy. There's a page in Ticketing Book 5 IIRC which explains what to do.

It really depends on the clerk. Also, often the barcodes won't scan on an LU TIS and the information has to be manually keyed which takes longer.

SET offered to take back all of my RTV's and exchange it for one (as long as its below £99.99 - this was written on a letter about delay repay), but given their fantastical skills to get things wrong at times i'd rather not risk it.

Has anybody ever done this before?

So i renewed my ticket today and it took nearly 25 minutes. Twice he hit the wrong key forcing him to start all over again twice, and then because he "interrogated the transaction" he had to start over a third time.

Then i hit the limit and would only accept 9 RTV's - and not the final £10 RTV.

Anyone ever had any issues like this?

I was unaware of a 9 voucher limit per transaction, which is interesting to learn.

My three most recent LU Oyster-related transactions involving RTVs have all just worked, however in the past I had some trouble when the barcode scanner wouldn't work and the clerk wouldn't manually key the number.

Balham are really good at doing them. Never had a problem at the NR station (upstairs); tube station can't/won't do them.
