RTV Perforation

Hi,

Southeastern have sent me an RTV, with the left hand side missing up to the perforation. As such the RTV is not as wide as other RTVs I have. Will I be able to use the RTV with no hassle?

Yes. I've had no problem with a similar one.

I've often seen ticket offices rip off and bin that small portion before processing them! You will have no problems using it

The bit on the left of the perforation is not needed and, as far as I know, is simply there to make them as wide as the letter that they are usually attached to.

I always thought the purpose of the perforated section was to allow the RTV to be stapled to the letter they are usually sent with, therefore allowing it to be removed without damage. I always remove it and have never had problems.

All the RTV's I've received of the new, barcoded, style, have always been attached by perforations to the bottom of the A4 letter. Although this may not be the practice of all TOCs, off the top of my head, I've had RTVs through like this from Greater Anglia, Cross Country and Arriva Trains Wales.

Sadly, some TOCs also staple RTVs through the actual voucher themselves (or maybe it's the customers?) - just above the barcode. It can be quite tricky to remove the staple without ripping the barcode.

As others have said, the left had side of the voucher - beyond the perforation is not required. I always rip it off before processing the vouchers, as it makes it easier to scan them and doesn't confuse the cheque printer.

Yes, it is the right hand side of the voucher that is important.
