Is there a way to find out which specific unit operated a given service?

Unfortunately there isn't a specific website that lists unit allocations, however you can put a request in the TOPS Requests thread and someone who has access to TOPS/TRUST should be able to tell you what unit operated the service.

Unfortunately, the Info is not in the public domain
Is there a thread where the short term future working schedule for of specific units can be requested, or would one just use the TOPS Request thread?

The short term future of a unit is rarely planned beyond its next visit to a maintenance depot - usually the end of the day in question. TOPS request thread is good for asking after the event, but it’s not particularly useful for what something is doing next.

Would there be anywhere where the current workings for a unit could be requested? I believe some of the rail companies' help Twitter accounts did/do this.
