Yep, it's called something like Royal Claret along those lines anyway only that coaching stock and two 67s painted in that colour (apart from those preserved coach's at the NRM for instance).

Not too sure wether it actually stabled at Castleton, I got it at Ravensthorpe then went back down to Manchester to see it in Victoria station...then went out again back to Tod.
Timings did seem quite slack though so probably did.
And just thought, are the pictures taken from the steep hill at Todmorden?

Was there last friday! Thought it looked too tod-ish to be walsden

I passed it stabled at Castleton on my way from the Calder to the Colne valley to get shots of it in both valleys. It was never intended that it would go to Victoria as it had to go back to Todmordon and then into Manchester Piccadilly via Huddersfield.

The hill shots are taken in between Todmordon and Walsden just off the Bacup Rd although, as the nearest station is Walsden I've described it as that.

Having said that the queen has travelled by normal train, but by surprise and with 1 security guard.

She's travelled on the Tyne and Wear Metro, which is about as "common" as you can get: Although admittedly she did have the Metrocar reserved for her and a couple of other dignataries. So she has travelled on normal trains too (And cabbed a 91, come to think of it)!

Thanks Snapper and Neil.

I have a friend over here who had spotted the Royal Train going by in a cab ride video he had bought. He asked me if I knew what it was and I identified it for him as the Royal Train using Rail Guide 2010. He originally thought it was black but I explained it was "royal claret".

I had sent him one link I found to a photo site. But these are much nicer and more detailed and complete. So I sent him your links as specified here on the forum.

Off topic for MU - over here I don't think any of our presidents have travelled by train since probably the 1960s. Usually always plane, helicopter and well-armored car.

I will share a brief story. One of the governors of Kentucky decided back in the '80s to save money by riding his motorcycle to work. Problem was - he had to be surrounded by 4 giant black cars full of protective service men. He gave that up quickly after a public outcry.:roll:

Didn't she this year also take a First Capital Connect Class 365 up to King's Lynn on her way to Sandringham? She only got the 1st class 1/3rd of the carriage if I remember correctly, with minimal security.

I believe she does this annually at Christmas except last year it was publicised.

Yes, she goes to Sandringham annually, but not always by FCC.
