The delights of Sunderland station! Must be one of the top contenders for the 'biggest dump'. It makes Birmingham New Street look like Buckingham Palace.

A royal train Class 67 came through with MK1s at catford bridge about two weeks ago anyone know what service it was on?

Probably a charter. They're in a general EWS pool so when not on royal work can end up all over. I've seen one of the Royal 67s at Newcastle as a thunderbird before now.

I often think that when the designed Sunderland they used New Street as a 'vision'. Sadists, the lot of em....and now they let the queen use it! At least Sunderland may attract the pity she deserves.:D;)

Thing is Washington is nowhere near Sunderland city centre! They'd be better off dropping her at Chester le Street or Durham and driving her from there.

Knowing the Echo, they probably made it up anyway

It will also cause hold ups for the metro trains although they can just use the one line.

Also the staff might have a hard time saying no flash photography anyway it will be nice to see the Royal train:)
