According to the Sunderland Echo the Queen is openning a new school in Washington she will be arriving by the Royal Train a week Friday in Sunderland

should be a good photo only problem the station is under going a lot of work going to be a handfull for the traincrew positioning the train

Probably a charter. They're in a general EWS pool so when not on royal work can end up all over. I've seen one of the Royal 67s at Newcastle as a thunderbird before now.

I often think that when the designed Sunderland they used New Street as a 'vision'. Sadists, the lot of em....and now they let the queen use it! At least Sunderland may attract the pity she deserves.

Thing is Washington is nowhere near Sunderland city centre! They'd be better off dropping her at Chester le Street or Durham and driving her from there.

It will also cause hold ups for the metro trains although they can just use the one line.

Also the staff might have a hard time saying no flash photography anyway it will be nice to see the Royal train

Im quite embarrassed the Queen has to see that dump of a station which is a disgrace to Sunderland. At least they are trying to do it up but Im sceptical about what they will actually achieve. Should have been left open like it used to be.
