I saw a Royal Mail Train run through Lancaster at about 2040 last night - was I seeing things ???

This was before I boarded the 2056 Virgin Service between Lancaster and Wolverhampton and was subjected to the effects of imbibing Five complimentary double Johnny Walkers

How did the train companies fit in engineering works with 7 day a week working or would there be lots of diversions?

That was one of the issues that went towards withdrawing these trains. RM were concerned about problems caused by the level of engineering works and subsequent diversions and timetable problems.

I think the biggest problem was that they sent out the engineering notices by post .........
