Hi folks! First time poster here with his first question. I was wondering if it was possible to buy any kind of ranger or rover ticket online. If not, why not?

Initially you couldn't, because all of the websites were journey planners, and so needed a journey to pick up the available fares etc.
GW broke the mould a few years ago and added a rovers and rangers section, where you can buy any which are valid on their services
You can even buy an All Line Rover on the GWR website!
Think a couple of other TOCS may have added this to theirs but they will be in the minority.
Would be handy to be able to buy some of the one day tickets (like the Centro Daytripper, West Yorks Day Saver etc), especially if travelling into these areas on other services, then you don't have to queue up on arrival to buy the day ticket.

Funny you should mention the ALR, of the two ALRs I have done I bought them both online from GWR, mainly to get the Nectar points!

East Midlands Railways website advises that some Rovers can be purchased at manned stations. All Line rovers are not mentioned.
Any idea as to when they'll be reinstated? Thanks
